All
members Registered or Affiliated through DTA, Dance Studios Affiliation
must adhere to these rules and regulations in such a way that all members
and most importantly all the students benefit from such. If and when
a Registered or Affiliated member breaches these rules and regulations
they may be dealt with.
This is in your benefit as a student because if your teacher is affiliated
with DTA, Dance Studios Affiliation then you know that your teacher
will adhering to these regulations, which means that studying under
a teacher affiliated with DTA, Dance Studios Affiliation is always in
your benefit. You also have the right to ask your teacher to register
with DTA, Dance Studios Affiliation

Preamble:
- These
Rules and Regulations have purpose to ensure all members of the
association and their students co-exist in harmony and the reasoning
being that the body of professional members and their students
as a whole with their needs always being looked after at all times.

Definitions:
-
DTA,
Dance Studios Affiliation will hereafter be called "DTA".
-
Any
person registered or gaining a qualification with DTA, Dance
Studios Affiliation will hereafter be called "member"
whether that person be professional or not.
-
Any
person training or studying under or hiring for demonstration
or otherwise any person registered or gaining a qualification
with DTA, Dance Studios Affiliation will hereafter be called
"student".
- Any
place of training, studio, school, academy or demonstration where
any person registered or gaining a qualification with DTA, Dance
Studios Affiliation uses for dancing will hereafter be called
"venue".
- These
rules and regulations that DTA, Dance Studios Affiliation posts
here or has on file for members' usage or decisions that are made
officially at any of the meetings that have the power to make
such decisions will hereafter be called "regulations".
These Rules and Regulations may change from Time to Time and such
will be posted on the Official website of DTA, Dance Studios Affiliation.
Should a rule or regulation not be absolutely clear then, when
the time arises, DTA will have the right to clarify such in writing,
and such clarification will be deemed to be final. DTA also reserves
the right to change the rules, regulations, clarifications and
decisions etc. should DTA feel that DTA has made an error. DTA
also reserves the right to not be legally or otherwise disciplined
or forced to rectify or be held responsible for errors or the
consequence of such errors no matter how such consequence arises,
whether that be directly or indirectly. Should DTA feel the need
to compensate anyone for errors or otherwise then DTA may do so
without any obligation and compensation will not be constituted
as acceptance or acknowledgment of that error or otherwise.

DTA
will list all professional members on the DTA website and attempts
to promote such teachers will be at DTA's discretion. Should a professional
member of DTA not be listed on the DTA website, then that member
needs to notify DTA such that DTA may rectify such.
-
All
members will be entitled to access to all DTA functions Free of
Charge, such as competitions that DTA host and other such dance
related functions, except functions where costs are too high to
be carried by the association.
-
DTA
will attempt to negotiate discounts and such from bodies and organizations
for the beneficial use of members. These benefits must not be abused
and are not transferable as they may only be used by the member.

Students
that study under or with DTA Members will have the following rights:
-
The
member will explain to the student the difference between American
and International Dancing. At no time will American Dancing
be Generally referred to as "Social Dancing". If the
student wants to learn one or the other then the member will
teach exactly that, and never teach something else under the
guise that it actually what the student wanted.

The
student has the right to ask for and receive receipts for monies
paid to the member, and such must detail exactly what has been
paid for.

The
student has the right to a lesson with simple things in place
such as decent music, decent floor space, decent undisturbed
instruction with the member not being late or tardy in any way
ensuring the student receives a full lesson.

The
student has the right to lessons with a member that is not under
the influence of alcohol or drugs, a member that does not smoke
during lessons or smell of smoke during lessons.

The
student has the right to change teachers at any time that the
student wants unless that student is under legal agreement to
fulfill a contract. The student has the right not to be "poached"
or "head hunted" by a member if that student is studying
under another teacher.

The
student has the right to enter exams. Should that student be
ready to do so. The student has the right to contact the DTA
to have a non-obligation, non-biased and objective pre-exam
assessment, at the student's cost, in the case of the student
believing he/she is ready and the teacher disagrees. Should
the teacher be totally incorrect then the teacher will be advised
and that member will be expected to apologize. Should the teacher
be correct then such student will not be allowed to make such
application of assessment for two Calendar years from the date
of application, and such student will be expected to apologize.

No
member will be allowed to discriminate against race, gender,
sexual orientation, religion or age.

Competitions
and Demonstrations:
-
No
professional may enter an amateur competition, whilst carrying
a professional status, such status may be changed or special
permission may be given by DTA on official documents as required
by DTA from time to time.
-
No
amateur may enter a professional competition, give a demonstration
or teach whether for money or not, whilst carrying an amateur
status, such status may be changed or special permission may
be given by DTA on official documents as required by DTA from
time to time.
- All
members will treat other members, their students and other professionals
with respect at all times.
- Professional
Members have the right to charge whatever they want for lessons, demonstrations
or other services, as there is no limit to the amount members charge,
as long as such is done professionally and as long as the student
knows exactly what they would need to pay and when such fees become
due, and as long as the member delivers exactly what has been paid
for.
- No
member may do or say anything that will damage the public view of
DTA or anything that will go against the grain of what DTA sets out
as it's mission Statement.

The
member ceases to be a member as soon as the member fails to pay
the annual subscription, which may change from time to time and
which is due in advance of each such year. This subscription will
be due on the first day of the year every year without notice or
delay. This subscription must be paid no later than the last day
of the first month of the year that it is due. Not paying such membership
subscription will automatically mean that that member does not want
to continue such membership and such membership will then automatically
be cancelled.

When
a member's membership ceases with DTA, for whatever reason, be that
cancellation by the member or expulsion by the association or otherwise,
then that member will still be bound by these regulations for a
period of Twelve Calendar months therafter. Unfortunately the benefits
that are derived from the membership may only be used up to and
including the last day that the last subscription fee, paid to DTA
by the member, is valid.

Should
a member not agree to the DTA regulations held here or made at meetings,
then that member may cancel membership but will still be bound by
these regulations for a period of Twelve Calendar months.

DTA
Reserves the Right of Admission of a prospective member to the association
for any reason whatsoever.
-
DTA
reserves the right to supply the member a written, correctly laid
out and signed document releasing the member from the responsibilities
of the regulations.
-
Should
DTA find it necessary to dicipline the member for not adhering to
these rules and regulations then that member accepts the decision
of DTA no matter what the outcome.
